Downspout for Narcissus

Inspired by the present day doric columns of rainwater management “Downspout for Narcissus” is a mirror where the reflection is just out of reach, paying homage to the Greek mythology character that shares its name. The common gutter elbow degree of 72 allowed for the grecian urn silhouette to take shape deepening its ties to the world of these legends and lore.

Other notable connections across the gutter/grecian/Narcisuss front:

-Ode to a Grecian Urn by John Keats depicting mythology landscapes and characters while discussing their timeless beauty as contrast to the aging image of oneself set forth in front of a mirror. Ageless beauty also being unattainable.

-Water collecting or pooling with “both-sides-up” gutter with no outlet creating the reflecting pond for which Narcissus would peer.

-The gutter frame splits down the middle to mirror itself and can be imagined as Narcissus leaning down to try and kiss his image. (Tilt head accordingly)
