Stubborn Boris:

Dudd Haus x Blu Dot

Stubborn Boris is a lazy suzan. It is a manifestation of community and coming together, physically allowing you to share with others with more ease. With this gathering we share not only food, but ideas and laughter; hopes and dreams. This creates strong connections that hold us up and keep us sturdy, not unlike the hardworking struts that provide the structure for the table of the same name by Blu Dot. Boris struts in his own arrogant way as well. Though looking useful for anything one may want to move, Boris is content smugly strutting his stuff in a seemingly useless circle.

The idea to use the rubber edge banding came to me while I was thinking of its use to hide and make a more aesthetic plywood edge. With that logic/mindset covering any surface with the material would merely add more aesthetic value to the piece. So i decided to cover it all.

Created from birch plywood, india ink dyed maple, rubber edge banding and generic casters. 18.5” x 18.5” x 3.5”

BLU DOT X DUDD HAUS

THIS IS NOT A STRUT

In recognition of NYCxDESIGN 2025 and the 20th anniversary of the iconic Strut table, Blu Dot has partnered with DUDD HAUS , the collective gallery and exhibition platform extending from JONALDDUDD, known for championing emerging designers who challenge industry norms and push the boundaries of contemporary design.

Originally launched in 2005, the Strut table embodies Blu Dot’s core principles of purposefully modern and playfully irreverent design. To celebrate the enduring success of this contemporary icon, the company’s NoMad store will host THIS IS NOT A STRUT, an exhibition featuring new, Strut-inspired works designed and produced by 21 DUDD HAUS members.

From novel extrapolations of the table’s core design principles to boldly idiosyncratic reinterpretations of its name, the works will offer a diverse vision of Strut’s lasting impact on the furniture landscape—viewed through the lens of today’s most exciting emerging talent.

Come strut your stuff!
